Having taken over the management of Barnehurst Golf Club following it’s closure in 2020, American Golf instructed Wessex Planning to apply for planning permission for a 18 hole adventure golf course.

Working in collaboration with Greenspan Projects, the plans for the development were finalised. These plans were accompanied by supporting specialist reports, co-ordinated by Wessex Planning, to ensure that the ecological, landscape and transport constraints were addressed.

The site’s location within Metropolitan Open Land and a Site of Local Importance for Nature Conservation presented particular challenges which were overcome through proactive discussions with the Local Planning Authority.

Planning permission was duly granted, allowing American Golf to further improve and diversify the leisure offer at Barnehurst Golf Club and attract the younger generation into the game of golf.
